Main tasks and responsibilities within VULKANO

Within the project TORRECID will implement and validate advances in energy efficiency within melting furnaces. On one hand refractory materials with improved refractoriness, corrosion stability, creep behaviour will be tested and validated, as well as use of phase change materials for energy recovery. Validation proof of concept covers smelting of frits in modified smelter, characterization and validation of melted frits in ceramic applications in order to verify possible contaminations. Additionally economic efficiency of furnace will be assessed.
