Fundación CIDAUT
CIDAUT (Centre for Transport and Energy Research and Development) was founded in 1993 as a non-profit making organization. Its main aim is to increase competitiveness and industrial development of companies operating in Transport (including aeronautical and surface transport) and Energy sectors, strengthening their industrial fabric by increasing their technological capabilities, allowing the development of new products and processes.
CIDAUT applies R&D for companies in the transport and energy sectors carrying out each and every stage of product development (new idea, selection and analysis of materials, simulation activities, processing, prototype product and tooling design and manufacturing and pre-industrialization, final validation of the product). The R+D+i section is divided into the areas of Transport Safety, Materials-Process-Product; and Energy. Nowadays CIDAUT counts with a staff of 250 researchers and technicians with experience in materials, processes, advanced testing and simulation. Moreover, the Energy division is a strong area in advanced combustion systems of biomass, gasification and use of gas for production of thermal and electric energy. This division has a great experience in the development of alternative fuels (biodiesel, bioethanol and biogas) to minimize the current dependence on fossil fuels in the transport sector’s production processes and end uses all supported with experimental facilities and calculation and simulation tools.
Relevant network and experience in National and European projects
CIDAUT has an extensive experience in project management at Regional, National and European level, as it has been the leader of more than 300 research projects since 1993. Moreover, it has participated in more than 50 EU projects, coordinating 8 of them. CIDAUT is an active member of several European associations and networks (ISN, EARPA, ERF, TRB, IIAV), of European technology platforms (EUMAT, BIOFRAC JTI-HFC) and of the Renewable heating and Cooling European Technology Platform (RHC-ETP).
- HITECO “New solar collector concept for high temperature operation in CSP applications”, FP7-ENERGY-2010-1 (2010-2014). Developing CFD simulation for design support.
- MAGNO “New Magnesium Technological Opportunities”. Spanish National Cenit project.(2008-2011), developing Mg manufacturing technologies
- ALIVE, “Advanced High Volume Affordable Lightweighting for Future Electric Vehicles” FP7 GC.NMP.2012-2 GC.NMP.2012-2. (2012 – 2016), where CIDAUT develops innovative Mg manufacturing processes and Mg components for the automotive partners (Volkswagen)
- PRIVATE INITIATIVE. Develop of non-commercial burners for ethanol reforming (Co-Firing) using CFD Simulation tools.
Main tasks and responsibilities within VULKANO
CIDAUT contribution will be focused into the simulation, evaluation and design on the co-firing system to be implemented into the two furnace demonstrators.
A whole analysis of the syngas and their behaviour will be carried out into this project.
